CHILDREN and TRAINING

If your child is 8 years of age of older and has an interest in being involved in the training of the dog, I will be happy to do my best to schedule lessons when your child is available.   Many times, the children do better than their parents!   Regardless of whether your children will be directly involved in the training lessons, please remember that to the dog the child is a buddy, a litter mate.   Supervision is a necessary element between dogs and children.   The children and the dog need to learn how to play correctly with one another.   Remember, kids will be kids and dogs are just being dogs.   Dogs know how to be dogs, they need to learn how to live within your human family and it's my job at Patience Unlimited to teach all of you how to do this.   Children also need to know how to respect the dog.   I can help with that, also.   Consistency is very important for all.   Have a family meeting and decide what will be allowed and what will not be allowed. Write it down, for all to see.   This way no one will be confused.
